Young people and mental health
In 2023, NHS England found that over 20% of 8 to 16-year-olds had a probable mental disorder, while research from UCL and the Sutton Trust shows almost half of older teenagers face mental health struggles. Parents, teachers, and young people in Leeds North West share their concerns with me every day. Itโs heartbreaking that young people today are struggling more than previous generations, missing out on opportunities that shape their future. Iโm committed to working with schools, supporting local initiatives, and pushing for national action to ensure they get the support they need.
